Lookout 2021 Caravan and Motorhome Holiday Bookings are Booming

Caravan and Motorhome Rental Boom

UK holidays involving the use of caravans and motorhomes look set to boom this year as travellers unveil their concerns about the risks of travelling abroad.

Their main concerns include the risks of being stranded abroad, quarantine requirements and the potential loss of money if plans are cancelled.

In fact, new research from The Cumberland (Research without Barriers)[1] suggests that some 83% of British travellers would prefer a UK holiday rather than travel abroad this year. It is thought that this trend is likely to continue into 2022 bringing a boost to the country’s hospitality sector.

Why is Demand for Motorhome and Caravan Holidays Likely to Boom in 2021?

The Caravan and Motorhome Club said the lifting of restrictions would be like "a cork popping from a bottle", following 2020 being a very difficult year for the tourism and hospitality sector.

An operator of "glamping" holidays in the UK, ‘Experience Freedom’ said bookings for 2021 were already up as people looked to spend more time in the "great outdoors".

Scotland and Cornwall seem to be the favourite UK alternatives, with 16% opting to holiday there, followed closely by the Lake District and Wales (15% each).

Almost three-quarters (74%) of respondents admit to relaxation being their top priority for a British stay-cation. This is followed by sight seeing at 59%, which will come as a big relief to the UK’s visitor economy.

The Benefits of a Motorhome or Caravan Holiday

As 2021 continues to look uncertain touring or site holidays offer the appeal of presenting fewer opportunities for change and cancellation, thereby increasing their appeal.

A motorhome or caravan holiday provides both comfort and flexibility to sight-see, enjoy the beach, and walk the countryside. It is also competitively priced when compared to the typical cost of a package holiday abroad.

Income Opportunities from Renting out Caravans and Motorhomes

If you own a caravan or motorhome, have you ever considered renting it out?

Rather than sitting unused for most of the year you could be earning income by renting it out when it’s not being used – especially in a year when demand is expected to boom.
